Dear Friend on the Journey of Healing and Awakening:

Absolutely everyone has the ability to heal and spiritually awaken themselves with sound. Everyone!

Why? Because you are a vibrational being of sound. Sacred texts from around the world tell us that in the beginning there was sound. Everything that was created came from sound.

When I first realized I was able to heal and awaken using sound, I asked a very simple question: "Why, out of all the healing talents that a person could have, had I chosen to heal with sound in this life?" After asking the question, I let go of any attachment to receiving an answer and answer eventually came in the form of a vision.

In the vision, I was in the middle a vast darkness. I was completely at ease and at peace in this space. As I gazed out into the dark, I saw something moving. It was a wave, a dark wave, and I knew if I could have heard it, I would have heard the original sound of creation.

Next, emanating from the wave, I saw a burst of white light streaming through the darkness. It then split into streams of color like a rainbow. And then I heard, "And on and on until all of creation that you know and you."

You and I come from that original sound. Since then I have learned that each person has their own sounds or combinations of sounds some sound healers call medicine songs. These are simple melodies, usually without words, that are song-lines between you and the Divine. And each person has specific combinations of sounds that stimulate your:

• life/purpose
• heart/love
• protection/safety
• connections to spiritual realms
• healing/wellness
• and more

Remembering or hearing just one of these songs can substantially change the quality of your life because it reflects the very essence of you.

Whenever I have the opportunity and a baby is born, I sing them their life song. In fact, when my oldest grand-daughter was born, of course, I rushed over to the hospital. When I arrived, my daughter was holding her in her arms and she was resting comfortably. As my daughter handed her to me, she began to fuss, as though she missed being in her mother's arms. As soon as I was holding her, I quieted my mind and listened. Her life song was right there and I began singing it to her. Within just a couple of notes, she became quiet and snuggled her head into my chest.

I can assure you, if I had been there when you were born, I would have sung your life song to you. I can't think of a more perfect way to welcome a spirit into the world than to sing the song that connects them from the spirit world to the earthly world.

Every year, I facilitate a sacred rite of passage called Song Quest, where individuals prepare for a year, getting themselves ready to spend several days fasting and sitting quietly on Mother Earth to hear one of their sacred songs. When your spiritual ears are open wide, your songs come to you.

Because the songs are part of who we are, everyone has the ability to access them. However, not all of us have developed an ability to open our spiritual ears and to trust what we hear. This is when it can be helpful to have a Sound Healer in your life.

One of my primary gifts is clairaudience. That means I can more easily hear in the spiritual realms that some other folks can. Plus, I came in with a pretty good voice, so when I hear and then sing a medicine song for someone, I'm pleased to say, it usually sounds pretty nice. Actually, some people say some of my sounds are other-worldly.

With all the energetic changes taking place on the planet right now...I get it.

We need the sounds that open us to the spiritual realms while also helping us integrate such tremendous energy into our earthly bodies.

After years of singing medicine songs for people, I can confidently say that people heal and awaken when I access one or more of their medicine songs or healing songs that specifically addresses a physical or emotional challenge they are facing.

I've been singing medicine songs since I was a little girl, and some of you have already heard the story about how I discovered my sounds had healing power when my mother left her deathbed after I sang her a song. (If you haven't heard the story, you can read it later on this page.) Ever since that day, I began singing with a realization that the sounds open doors to physical and emotional healing as well as greater states of conscious awakening.

This is one of my great joys in life—singing medicine songs for people. Like other sound healers, I know you can discover them and sing them for yourself. I also know that sometimes, when we are stuck or our inner ears are not as developed, it can be very special to have someone else access those sounds for you. It can be great to have help, can't it?

A mother’s precious, final gift

In 1994, I received a call from my brother telling me my mother was in the hospital and not expected to live through the week. 

I had not spoken to my mother in two years because I had chosen to take some time away from her in order to do some deep emotional healing around our relationship.

My brother and I sensed she needed some closure before she crossed over, so I made the decision to go to her quickly.

From the perspective of some, I was the prodigal daughter returning home. From my perspective, I had finally completed enough of my own personal healing to be able to hold space for the pain my mother had been in most of her life.

I walked into her room and reached for her hand. I could see the longing for forgiveness in her eyes.

Together we exchanged words of love and understanding that healed years of emotional suffering between us. Eventually, my mother grew quiet as the morphine she had been given began to take effect.

Without even thinking, I started humming to her, the same way I hummed my brothers and sister to sleep when I was only a child. A beautiful Native American chant, unknown to me until that moment, emerged effortlessly from my heart, and as my mother listened, she wept.

The doctors didn't know what was wrong with my mother. She was too weak for exploratory surgery, so they had put her on a penicillin drip for any possible infection.

After singing my song, without any warning, I discovered the source of her pain.

I could see inside her body. I saw an infection in her bronchial tubes. Silently asking her spirit what she needed, I then saw a beautiful, emerald green light fill her chest and bronchial tubes until finally all became a brilliant white and then the light disappeared.

Only a few hours later, my mother was sitting up in bed, laughing with her family. She was held for observation for one day and then released to go home. 

She spent another three months with us before she finally made her journey to the other side.

My mother left me with a precious gift. She had allowed me to experience the gentle and miraculous power of healing sound.

Since then I have sung medicine songs to many people in need of healing. And I have also had the opportunity to learn more about what science knows of how sounds can affect us and the world we live in.

I will talk more of these both in a little. The thought I want you to sit with for a moment is…

Unless it is a medicine song to heal a specific health condition, your songs last your life-time, carrying you into the memories of your sacred self and divinity.

How Sound Medicine works

What I love about how Sound Medicine works is that it is so profoundly simple. Everything vibrates. Everything!

Physicists tell us molecules, atoms, even quarks are in constant vibratory motion. Since these are the building blocks of matter, that means that everything within matter is vibrating. In addition to vibrating, those building blocks are moving in geometric patterns.

Dr. Hans Jenny, through the science of Cymatics, was able to prove that vibration affects matter. He demonstrated to us that every geometric pattern has a sound and every sound has a geometric pattern.

Now let's put this simple equation together in terms of energy healing with sound. When your cells are vibrating properly in your body, they are vibrating in geometric patterns that have sounds associated with them. When the vibration is not healthy, the geometric pattern is disrupted, as are the sounds.

What a sound healer can hear, and what you could learn to hear, is the sound of your cells vibrating in the healthy geometric pattern. The sound healer literally calls the cells back into vibrational harmony with the proper sounds. Cool, eh?

So, when you invite a Sound Healer to assist you in your healing, he or she is listening for you harmonic vibrations and singing them to you. What is required on your part is an open mind and heart, and true belief that you ARE healing as you listen.

With sound medicine you can also set specific intentions for what you want your emotions and psyche to accept. You are calling yourself to a higher order of health and awareness. You have probably witnessed your psycho/emotional responses before. Listen to one piece of music and you feel rejuvenated and relaxed. Listen to another and you want to run screaming out of the room.

Some time ago a rather well-known test was done with plants and music. Maybe you read about it. For one group of plants classical music was played throughout the day. For another group of plants, rock-and-roll music was played. For the control group, no music was played at all.

Guess which plants grew the best? For you rock-and-roll lovers, this might be dissappointing. They grew the best with classical music!

Now I love rock-and-roll and classical music. I also get that in this study there was an observable physiological response to sound. So what does that tell us about the human body?

Whether or not we are conscious about it, we respond both emotionally and physically to the sounds we here. Therefore, how would our experiences change, if we became more aware of the sounds we were listening to and, better yet, selectively listened to sounds that healed and awakend us? And how much more effect would those sounds have if we listened to them with conscious intent?

When the Focus Is On Healing...

When a Sound Healer sings to you, he or she is calling to the healed and whole essence of who you are...inviting the cells to remember their healthy state...and encouraging them to remember and vibrate at their proper fequency.

I have discovered that most medicine songs are about 20 minutes long, which is perfect amount of time for you to enter into a light trance state where you will be the most open to the healing properties of the sounds and limiting beliefs will be less prevalent. You need to be open in order for the energy medicine to work for you.

In the beginning the sounds are soothing and calming to help you open and relax into the experience.Then the sounds begin penetrating deeper into the ailment or condition needing attention.

There are times when the sounds are actually strange and may be uncomfortable. This is like taking a bitter herb, knowing that it doesn't taste good, but it will help you heal. These sounds are often addressing difficult issues you have carried with you. With sound healing, there are times when it is appropriate to acknowledge the condition by singing its sound. A true sound healer does not attempt to fix anything. A sound healer sounds the truth, and sometimes that is temporarily uncomfortable. But it doesn't last.

Once the condition is honored through the sacred sounds, you tend to relax, as though the pain you have been carrying is finally heard, recognized and honored. After this, a doorway opens and you are able to hear the sounds calling your cells and psyche to health. The sounds now carry you to a place where you are called back into physcial and emotional harmony.

A wonderful healing story...

Some years ago a friend of mine was in excruciating pain. She asked me to do some sound healing for her, and of course, I immediately began singing to her, but nothing was happening. Her pain was intense and I was concerned it might be a ruptured appendix, so I got her to the car and drove through rush hour traffic in the emergency lane to get her to the hospital.

When we arrived, they took her into an emergency treatment room and began running some tests. Lying in the bed, waiting for the results, she was so exhausted she fell asleep. Instantly, I could hear the medicine song and began singing it to her. 

As with my mother, I could see inside her body and realized somewhere in her intestines there was a rupture, and fluid was leaking. I sang the song to heal the rupture.

When she awoke the doctor explained they couldn't find anything in the tests they ran. My friend proclaimed she was somehow feeling much better, and we left the emergency room.

Usual results...

The stories I have shared with you are pretty dramatic, and I was there in person, so I know what Sound Medicine can do. I also know that a Sound Medicine audio is not exactly the same as having me there in person. 

I know not everyone listens to a recording once they receive it, nor do you have me there with my own belief merging with yours. So not all results are as miraculous as the ones I've shared.

The songs may carry you to other planets in other systems where your soul has lived.

Sometimes, the medicine songs link you to a particular soul family.

You will discover and remember more of you own Divine nature. The songs lovingly assist you in fulfilling your purpose as you awaken your sense of self. You will get to hear how special and beautiful you truly are!

The sound medicine affirms your core essence, and you get to be sung-in, in the same way I sang to my grand-daughter her own sweet song to affirm her life force and welcome her to this world.

It takes you right into your core, affirming it just like a momma singing medicine to her newborn, and supporting that child through that sound medicine until the time he or she can access songs for herself.

So I think what sets my work apart from the work I know other people are doing, is that …

this is getting right to the core of who you are as an individual …
it’s a recognition of yourself.

All I’m doing is saying, “This is how I see you. This is what Spirit and that Divine Essence is … that I see in you.” Hopefully it’s affirming a core knowledge inside of you. 

So now you’re remembering it … it’s brought up to the surface where you can work with it consciously and you can allow it to nurture you … not just today and not just a little while, but all your life.

That being said …

Sound Medicine is NOT for everyone

When I think of the work I do, and I work with lots and lots of people … I work with people who are really, really ready … truly ready. 

They want to experience their essence, and want to know their essence, and live their purpose for being, and their reason for being.

In other words, there’s a place where you realize that you’re not going to get what you’re seeking, outside yourself anymore. 

And you are willing to go there … you’re willing to go there and really recognize how incredible you are. 

And you’re willing to look at all the obstacles and barriers and beliefs and feelings that have gotten you to this place where you feel that you’re willing to face them.

You’re willing and ready to look beyond
your fears and limitations, and embrace that part of
you that is pure essence … and is divine in its origin.

All kinds of people come to me for sound medicine… from people that are seriously ill to people who want to hear the sounds of their essence resonating through them every day.

Tradition + technology = unexpected results

This is of course, nothing new in spiritual revelation ... we tend to be “do-ers” rather than “be-ers.”

And of course it’s when we get to the essence of who we really are that the doors start opening and the channels start getting easier. 

The true ability to maneuver through life with grace and ease comes when we open fully to ourselves, the path we chose and what we’ve come here to do. 

So, it might seem old-fashioned, but how could that go out of style, you know?

A long time ago, we were able to retain a sense of our essence about who we were, as well as what we’re doing. On the planet today, we are very much out of balance, and if there is any energy that is going to help us come back into balance, it is the willingness to open to the essence of who we are.

Then the doing will flow from that essence with a whole lot more ease.

We’re aligning with it from the core of who we are, so as we learn and as we apply our knowledge and skills, it’s coming from the very best of who we are, in alignment with who we are, and that’s when the doors tend to open, and the channels begin to flow.

I had a beautiful, beautiful experience that I want to share with you.

This is so sweet. I was hitting one of those stuck spots, you know, where we get to where it’s like, “Oh man! I can’t seem to make any progress.”

And I had three dreams, which is a big clue for me, because when I get to three it’s like, “Uh-oh, I let this go too long.” You know?

So in the third dream I’m telling a friend of mine point blank, “I’m STUCK. I’m just stuck.”

He replied, “Well the edge of the property is right up there.”

I retorted, “I know. I’ve been to the edge of the property and it’s not far enough.” Ha! Clear metaphor for feeling like I was in a box and I needed to be beyond that barrier.

And so I took this into a meditation practice that I give, a creation meditation, just holding this stuckness that has emerged in my dreams, this feeling … holding it in love, and holding it in compassion … not judging it, not trying to transform it. I’m just being with it. As it is (which is also exactly what I do in Sound Medicine. I hold the stuckness in the truth of its sound) until it transforms itself.

And this beautiful voice comes through in my meditation. And the voice says to me, “Misa, you don’t have to know the outcome. Just welcome in the marvelous reality that is waiting for you on the other side of this stuckness.”

It was so clear to me that I engage this wonderful energy of setting goals, setting objectives, knowing what my outcomes are going to be, taking action, moving toward my outcomes … wonderful energy, it has carried many of my through a lot of my life with some marvelous successes... 

And it will continue to do that; it’s a good energy.

However, the reason I was stuck was because I had not yet opened to that unknown awareness of being...that reality I couldn’t envision yet, but was there waiting for me.

It had already been designed before I came to earth, all I needed to do was open my heart, my body, my cells, my mind -- and I say “all” recognizing that’s a big task sometimes, to get THAT open -- to this awareness of a much more marvelous reality than I was currently envisioning.

That’s that essence, that core, that beingness that is there for us, and sometimes we get so task-driven that we’ve forgotten to pay attention to that isness -- paying attention to that marvelous reality that already was set into motion before we incarnated on Earth … and open to it.

And this is the wonder of Sound Medicine...singing-in the reality we dreamed into being.

Singing our dreams into reality.

This is the kind of wisdom that is being brought to us, from all many indigenous practices across the planet now. Sound Medicine is one of those ancient practices that serves us very well today.

I get to be one voice, one among many helping us all to open … and open … and open.

And for me, that’s what the sound medicine is about.

Why my time will be very short with this service

You should know, I wasn’t able to record my sounds in the beginning. It would come out on a tape recorder and it would sound like static! 

It took me a while -- prayer, and learning how to be with the technology -- because the technology has a vibration of its own too.

I had to learn how to be with that medicine coming through -- that spiritual sound coming through -- and how to vocalize it … and be in resonance with technology so that you actually got a recording of a medicine song when we were finished! So, it’s been a journey!

My dreams showed me that I have a period of time that I can still record. And then a day will come I won’t be able to record again.

I don’t know why that occurs. I only know that it does. It will be interesting to see how many years of recording time I’ve really got, or months or whatever. I have a limited amount of time according to my vision.

Remember, I don't know how long I will be able to record the Sound Medicine.

I only know what my vision showed me --

How to know if this is right for YOU

Most of us have a really, really deep knowing about whether something is right for us, whether it’s time for us to experience it or not. And what a lot of us do is, we’ll feel a call, and then we will find a whole lot of rationale as to why we shouldn’t.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve done that a lot in my life.

There’s an opportunity for all of my prayers to be answered. But I’m scared, so I come up with a lot of rationale as to why I shouldn’t do it.

And then that beautiful, beautiful opportunity passes me by and then it takes longer, and things go slower, I’m more frustrated, and I’m wondering why the heck God did not answer my prayers! ;-)

And Spirit was there all along, saying,
“Right here honey, right here is the opportunity.

“I know it’s so scary, I know there’s a little risk … but right here, right here.”

And I know in my own life that when I have heard that call way deep down inside of me, and I’ve said, “I’m going to do this. I don’t know how, but this is my calling. I’ll figure it out,” then the magic happens.

Then the doors open because my heart committed, my heart opened, my heart said “YES.”

Then there are the times when it is really, really wrong. I shouldn’t do it. When everything in your body, in your mind is saying “No, no, no, no, no, you shouldn’t do it, it won’t work. It is not right.”

And I don’t want anybody to come for Sound Medicine who
really, really doesn’t want it.

Even if it sounds like a good idea, because it won’t work. It’s not the right medicine, the right energy, the right gifts, the right support at the right time.

But if the calling is there …

If somebody is listening and saying, “my body is saying yes and my heart really wants this, and I’ve got all these reasons why I shouldn’t,” then the reasons are fears.

Those “reasons” are opportunities in the spiritual journey to say, “Okay those are fears,” and either take them head on … or just blow right over the top of them, you know, and say, “I’m going to get to the other side of this.”

As my guidance in my vision came that said, “Open to that wonderful reality that’s beyond the stuckness, that’s on the other side of the stuckness that you’re feeling right now. Open up to it.”

That’s what I would say was good advice for me in my life. It worked.

I think it’s a lesson that many of us can embrace at the right time, when that lesson is ready for us, to say, “Yep, this is one of those moments, it’s time to open up, time to allow myself to receive that gift. So that I can continue my journey, so that I can feel good about my journey and go forward today with a renewed sense of who I am and what I’m about, and what I can do.”
